African dance, often referred to as the dance of the Blacks, is a style that represents fully the african culture. Originally, it was considered a means of communication. Considered even more important then spoken language, it allows the means to express, to exist, and to reaffirm its identity.
The african dance is such a form of expression that it has inspired a lot of dances in the western countries. Technics, movements, and rhythms, all is kept except the ritual aspects of it. Since the 1950´s this art form continues to grow in the Western Hemisphere.
Prepare yourself to dance with bare feet, executing great acrobatics steps marked by the djembé rhythm. Clapping hands, stomping feet, jumping high, ondulations, all of those movements are practiced bending your knees, and arching your back.
The gestures are based on the observation of wild animal behaviour and then imitating it. That way you will learn how to dance The Crazy Chicken, or The Camel Walk.
This dances requires that you move all of your body
